Friday, October 15, 2004 Argh! Work work work -- that's all I've been doing lately. Leaving for Palawan on Sunday. Will be back next Saturday pa. Its a good thing KN is going with me.
Oh yeah, we lost the championship. Second place sucks but then again...
Friday, October 01, 2004 Championship, sore throat and cough syrup Wooohooo! The boys won their game vs UST last Wednesday! Sayang, S wasn't able to watch the game -- he had a client call in Brent, Mamplasan -- he was already at Philcoa when the game ended. No worries though, I screamed my head off to make up for his absence, heehee... After the games, we went to Trellis to unwind -- and stayed til 2am -- ON A WEEKDAY! Egad! From all the excitement of the game, I was dead sick yeasterday. I lost my voice and was coughing like there was no tomorrow. Yuck. I spent the whole day in bed. David, again Because I was at home, I was able to catch David Sheel on Straigh Talk. I didn't know if it was a live telecast, but I decided to SMS the show just in case. When Cito Beltran read him my message, he remembered us and said that he hoped to see us there. Nyahaha... Bad-minton S, KN and I met at powersmash last night to "play." We were all rusty and since we didn't have a quorum, we only stayed for an hour and went straight to Hap Chang. I should have satyed in bed. The Nido soup there is the best, George! :D Monday, September 27, 2004 Kuala Lumpur, baby! Warning. This is going to be one loooong post. KL was soooo much fun! I had to miss two days of work, thats why it took me this long to finally post something. I had a hard time sleeping on Wednesday night from my excitement. Im so happy I bought the bag with rollers. It was so easy to pack stuff in it! And I even got it on sale pa! Thursday I left the house at a little before 11 am. I was so carefull all the way because being a Thursday, I wasn't supposed to be on the road. Thank God for the 10 am - 3 pm break. I headed to ParknFly and left good ol' Jojo there. ParknFly's van then took me to the NAIA. I was too early so I read most of the Reader's Digest I brought even before boarding the plane... So much for excitement... The plane ride was only 3.45 hrs but it felt like forever! But the chicken adobo they served was pretty good. AND Malaysian Airlines use REAL SILVERWARE! Woohoo! :) Actually, like Singapore, the flights from Manila to KL sucks. Atleast for my schedule, I got there after dinner and left before lunch so in effect, I only had 2 whole days of vacation, and spent the rest in the air and in airports... lah di dah... And the plane that they use is only a Boeing 737 -- meaning no TVs and super cramped! Grrr... Anyways, although I was bored out of my wits on the plane, I forgot all about it as soon as we landed. Boy, was I wowed by the airport! The KLIA is so nice and modern! I took a cab to KL and was again wowed with their highways. So many cars were passing us so I thought we were going slow but when I peeked at the speedometer, were were alreading going 120 kph! At around 9.30 pm, I was S' arms! [yeah yeah yeah...] We stayed at the Dorsett Regency Hotel because that was where he was billeted for his seminar. We just extended our stay til Sunday. After unpacking and the usual *wink* pleasantries in the room. S and I took a stroll around the hotel and headed to a restaurant/hawker place that [we thought] his coleague recommended. Depending on the toppings, the kind of noodles they use and the way they cook it [whether fried or not] is different. If we were in Manila, I wouldn't dare to eat in that place, but since S was told they had really good [and cheap!] food, I ordered anyways. S got Beef Mie [noodles] which was if I remember correctly, RM8 [approx. USD 2.16] and I ordered Seafood Mie which was RM 10 [approx. USD 2.70] YUMMY!!!! I also ordered fresh orange juice by mistake. Its a good thing it was really tastey. After eating, we looked around the area and found the restau that his friend actually reccomended... SOO KEE MEE. Hahahahaha... We made a mental note to try it the next day. Before heading home, we passed by a fruit stand and I bought a kilo of mangosteen for RM 5. Silly me forgot to haggle. Oh well... Its was really sweet anyways...The next day, I woke up from several dreams to find out it was already 10 am! Argh! Panic! We had to hurry up if we wanted to catch the breakfast buffet [which we then discovered was up to 10.45]. In the elevator, we saw Kevin, one of S' counterparts from HK and had a nice breakfast with him. He was going to " target=_blank>Genting Highlands in the afternoon and we decided to tag along. David After a quick shower, S and I cased the malls around Bukit Bintang and then decided to take the monorail towards the Petronas Twin Towers. We sort of got lost while walking to the connecting train station, so I asked a few locals for directions. I asked them where WINDANG station was and they all gave me weird looks. Then I looked at the map. We had to go to Dang Wangi pala! And I was the one who was windang! Hahahahaha.... Windang in colloquial filipino means dizzy or confused. Hahahahaha... So then we asked this guy who we saw at the stoplight. He turned out to be going the same way we were going and so we had a nice conversation on the way. He said his name was David and he was a classical pianist and was going to Manila the following week [this week] for a show at the hard Rock Cafe. I thought he was a session player or something. It turns out, he's the star of the show Don't shoot me I'm just the piano player Hahaha! I told S I wanted to watch but the tickets were pretty steep... Anyways, I degress...We eventually found the station that took us to KLCC and Petronas. We weren't able to go up, so we went around the mall instead. After a quick lunch, we headed back to the hotel, but was still late for our 3pm arrangement, hehehe... Cable Car We walked a couple of blocks to the bus station and then we were on our way. The trip was going to be 45 mins to an hr so we slept most of the way. The cable car was supposed to be the fastest and most modern in the world so we were excited to take it. Pero nakakatakot pa rin sya! [But it was still scary!] But fun, too! The trenches [is that what they call it?] were sooooo deep and everytime we'd pass a post, the wires made scary sounds! Inaaaay! Of course I still took a lot of photos... While Kevin checked in [Genting is only about 15 minutes from the airport and he was leaving the next day so he decided to just spend the night], S and I had coffee and enjoyed the weather. After about an hour, the three of us had a quick dinner at some italian resto because we had to catch the last bus out. I was really scared about riding the cable car again at night... Yikes... Its a good thing the day ride was scarier, and the 20 or so minute trip seemed faster than when we first rode it. Since our dinner was lousy, S and I were hungry by the time we got home so after a short rest, we headed off to Soo Kee Mee [the right one] again. We just shared one order of Beef mee since we already had an idea of how big the orders there were. Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! After eating, I again bought mangosteen which only cost me RM4 because I remembered to haggle. Hehe... When we got back to the hotel, we were able to watch some TV. We discovered that they have Malaysian Idol. Teehee... I think I will keep my comments to myself for this one. They also show Queer Eye, but the script of their teaser is slightly different. "They are the Fab Five: an elite team of men dedicated to extolling the simple virtues of style, taste and class" They missed out one word. Go figure. Hehe...Saturday Power-shopping day! Our last full day before we had to go home... *sob* We were planning to go to KLCC early to be able to get tickets to go up the Petronas Twin Towers, but when the alarm went off, we were too batugan [lazy] to wake up so we slept some more. :D Our day's itinerary changed a bit. Hotel -> Sogo -> Pertama [they have several sports shops that sell apparel and rackets at good prices] & its sourrounds -> China Town. We did all that but were not able to buy much. KL's Chinatown was dissapointing. I was expecting native or atleast asian stuff to be on sale there aside from the normal touristy things... but alas, 40% of the merchandise were bags, bags and more bags! If I wanted some bags, I would have just went to Greenhills! We also entered some malls within the Chinatown area, and the stuff they sold there is what you see in Divisoria. No joke. Grrrr.... we should have went to the Central market, instead. [The mangosteen in Chinatown only cost RM3! Egad!] What was great about Chinatown was the store we found that sold beef jerky and pork/chicken floss and PORK BACON! Yummy! Apparently, that store was popular and had many branches [one near the hotel]. Yummy stuff! But bad for the heart, hehe.. After spending the whole day walking, we were dying to get back to the hotel so we rested for a while before going to Soo Kee Mie again for the King Prawn Mie I was dying to try. Nic also got Bah Ku Teh to go and ate it there. Its a good thing we made firends with the staff and owner the night before.Going home Our vacation was too short! We had to get up at 7 am to be able to leave for KLIA by 8am, but everything went smothly naman. We were able to shop for last minute stuff there, plus we took the aero train back and forth just to experience it :DS was asleep the whole flight back. Click here to view the whole album. Wednesday, September 22, 2004 My oh my Because of the sudden downpour, I remembered to check the weather forecast for KL for the duration of my stay... It doesn't look good :( I think I have to get my self rain-proof shoes... Black Havaianas, perhaps? hehehe... Tuesday, September 21, 2004 Pictures are worth a thousand words I may not have been blogging, but I've been keeping myself busy :) Work has been occupying a lot of my time these days. Plus I had to have my office pc reformatted, plus I lost my internet connection for more than 2 days because of the reformatting... I would get home past midnight and still go online to check my mail. Gosh... I've gotten so depended on the internet that I don't feel complete if I don't have access -- even when I don't need to look for something. Sheeesh! Anyways, here are some photos of what I've been up to lately... Cat sleeping under Mia's car. No connection to anything whatsoever
